This is my boyfriend Ricky and I. We’ve been dating for a little over seven and a half years – since I was 15 and he was 16 – and we hope to get married soon!
He’s Mexican on his mother’s side and Salvadoran on his father’s side. I’m proud to be of mainly African descent. But I do have a bit of Native American ancestry (Blackfoot for sure and possibly Cherokee – I’m from North Carolina, after all).
We’ve been blessed to stay together for so long because of our respect for one another’s cultures… and because of our good-nature to poke fun at one another’s culture every now and again. A sense of humor is everything, folks. Color means nothing – it’s what’s on the inside that makes you compatible with someone.
He’s the best thing to ever happen to me and I love him dearly 🙂
