What are your ethnic backgrounds: I am Black American of African, European, and Asian descent. Juan is Puerto Rican and strongly identifies with his Taino Native Indian history.
How long have you been together: 1.5 years.
How did you meet: I was driving a taxi and he was on his way to a birthday party. He jumped into my taxi and introduced himself, lol.
How have people reacted to your relationship: Everyone has reacted very well to our relationship except his mother. I can tell that she’d hoped that he would have found a younger woman and possibly a Latina to bring home. She’s made jokes about my age, informed me that my biological clock was ticking as if to insinuate that 41 is too old to near children (he’s 34 but doesn’t have kids), asked me about where my family was from trying to pinpoint my ethnic background, then insisted the reason she doesn’t try to get close to me is because we aren’t married. Ok, lol.
